What Happened to Guardy?

Many of our users have been wondering: What happened to Guardy? We’re here to provide a full explanation of what occurred and where we’re headed next.

A few months ago, our mobile app stopped working, displaying the message “Action cannot be completed,” leaving users puzzled. This message indicates that our app was unable to connect to our database. As soon as our team was made aware of the issue, we began investigating possible causes.

After thorough investigation, we concluded that our database hosting vendor was likely the source of the problem. We reached out to them but were met with uncertainty. Weeks went by, and we learned that they were experiencing significant server issues. Unfortunately, we were told to wait for further updates, which led to months of unanswered questions and frustrating delays.

With no resolution in sight, we decided to explore other vendors and started planning a migration. However, just as we were about to begin, our original vendor provided new information: they assured us that their servers would be fully operational by September 30th under the leadership of a new CEO, who was focused on putting their company back on track.

I personally had a long conversation with the new CEO, sharing our concerns and ideas for improvement. He assured us that going forward, we would experience faster speeds, more powerful options for scaling our database, and minimal downtime—limited to short, planned maintenance windows.

We now have a second vendor in place and have backed up all of our data to both vendors. If our main vendor were ever to experience downtime, we can switch servers in minutes, ensuring our users remain unaffected.

With these improvements, however, came increased costs, which is why we’re introducing a new subscription plan to help cover operational expenses and keep the app running smoothly for all users. We offer two plans:

  • Monthly: $2.99/month per group
  • Yearly: $9.99/year per group

We also have a 7-day free trial available. This subscription will allow us to develop even more features to streamline your management processes. For organizations that experienced the outage prior to our new subscription model, we’ve credited two months free before the subscription kicks in, effective Friday, September 27, 2024.

Additionally, we’ve rolled out major updates to our app, so be sure to update to the latest version for the newest functionalities. For our Apple users, the app is currently under review by Apple, but in the meantime, you can use the mobile version at www.m.guardyapps.com. Android users can download the app today. We will notify Apple users via notification and email as soon as it’s available for download.

By January 2025, we will be launching a separate mobile app designed exclusively for your members. This new app will offer a tailored experience, allowing your members to engage with Guardy in a way that is more streamlined and user-friendly, built specifically with their needs in mind.
